Top 5 JL Audio 10 Inch Subwoofers Reviewed

Top 5 JL Audio 10 Inch Subwoofers Reviewed

Not everyone can afford to have a monster sub in their vehicle. If your car is short on space, a ten-inch sub is a good alternative. It is capable of pushing out some really great sound, but is also compact enough not to completely take over.

With compactness, however, you do need to sacrifice something in terms of power handling. The subs that we looked at below all perform at high levels that will satisfy your average to beginner enthusiast. If you are looking for a lot more bass, you would be better off looking at other models.

Of course, the bigger the sub, the more expensive it is likely to be, so be prepared to dig deeper into your pockets if you want something that performs at a much higher level. Rockford Fosgate does produce a great series of high-performing subs as well.

When having a look at JL Audio’s series of ten-inch subwoofers, we considered their performance, whether or not they represented good value for money and their overall size.

The specs on the models that we considered were similar in order to get a fuller idea of their value in relation to one another.

10W0V3-4 – JL Audio 10″ Single

This 10-inch sub is designed more for a smaller car and smaller budget.  It offers pretty good value for money but, at that price, your options are going to be more limited.

In terms of power handling, this model would not get a second glance from pro enthusiasts, but it is good for standard users. It offers 300 Watts RMS and 600 Watt peak power.

The cone is made of polypropylene that has been reinforced by minerals to improve its durability. The frame is elevated to allow air to reach the voice coil directly for more efficient heat management.

You do have to be more careful when it comes to cranking up the volume but, overall, it is a great little speaker.

JL Audio 10tw3-d4 Shallow-mount

If you are looking for a sleek and sexy sub, or have limited space to mount it, this could be an option worth looking into.  With a top-mount depth of just 3 ¼ inches, this is a highly compact sub. Naturally, that does mean a trade-off in power handling.

The power handling ranges from 100 Watts to 400 Watts RMS rating, so you are going to need to watch how much power is going through it or risk blowing it quickly.

Like most JL Audio models, this has been designed with durability in mind. The polypropylene cone is filled with mica to strengthen it. The high-roll rubber surround helps keep the cone snugly in place.

The cast frame helps to draw heat away from the voice coil, and this has a strong excursion capability. Unlike its bigger compatriots, it has no pole in the center making it possible to mount it a lot more easily. You can choose a rear mount if you like – something that is not possible with most other options.

10W6v3-D4

10W6v3-D4 – JL Audio 10″

This ten-inch subwoofer is not likely to disappoint in a hurry. It comes in at a relatively affordable price and makes the best use of JL Audio’s tech. It is designed for those who want to be able to upgrade they audio systems without having to rob a bank.

It has a decent power handling capability and performs rather well. For quality sound, set it up in a sealed box. The enclosure volume needed is not excessive, and the mounting depth is just under seven inches.

Alternatively, a ported enclosure will allow you to get more volume, but you will need to trade off some of the sound quality for it. So, you have to decide what works better for you – a much higher volume, or a better quality of sound.

The design is aesthetically pleasing – it will look cool in just about any vehicle.

JL Audio CS110LG-TW3 Sealed PowerWedge Enclosure with 10″ TW3 Subwoofer

This option caters for those who want to simplify their setup or are just starting out. It comes already enclosed in a sturdy MDF surround that is fully carpeted. The enclosure has been built to ensure that you get high performance in terms of both sound and heat control.

The speaker itself is okay when it comes to power handling, with 400 Watts RMS power. The sound is excellent considering the shallower enclosure. The enclosure is compact and easy to install or remove.

JL Audio CP210-W0v3 Dual 10″

This model comes with two 10-inch subwoofers and a ported enclosure to get maximum volume. The power handling is okay at 300 Watts RMS and 600 Watts max power. It is a good option for someone who is looking for an easy install and not too have to worry about building an enclosure.

The price is not bad, considering what you are getting, making this excellent value for money option. It comes with the standard JL Audio features like the polypropylene cone that has been injection-molded and reinforced with mica, good quality materials, and highly effective heat dispersion.

Final Verdict

The choices we above are all quality options. Our top pick, though, would have to be 10W6v3-D4 – JL Audio 10″ because it offers good power handling and a great sound.

Our second-place winner would be the JL Audio CP210-W0v3 Dual 10″ because it offers the best value for money out of all of the options that we chose.

The third place goes to the JL Audio CP210-W0v3 Dual 10″ because it is the best space-saving option on the board.

Is a ten-inch going to satisfy everyone? No, but unless you like your bass to rattle your teeth, they are bound to work well for you.

Overall, these options are all good ones. If you make sure that you stick the right amp, and treat these subs properly, you can be sure that they will last you well. JL Audio has gone out of their way to prove that you don’t need to spend an absolute fortune to get the kind of sound that you deserve.
